WHAT TO EXPECT
How to Prepare for a
Tarot Reading
Before the Tarot Reading
First, I ask that you keep an open mind and a willingness to stay connected to energies that you might not understand. Before you schedule the appointment, I need more information to provide a truly meaningful experience. Please take your time to fill out my client intake form — which takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the amount of information you’re willing to provide. I will review your information and confirm your inquiry prior to the Tarot session.
It's important that you have a clear understanding about what you want to consult the Tarot.
Meditate on your inquiry by visualizing the challenges and what an ideal outcome looks like for you. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and envision a white light sending you positive energy.
Try to avoid Yes/No questions or prediction questions like “Is my significant other cheating on me?” When this happens, we will reframe the question to something more empowering — which puts you in control of your life choices, such as “What do I need to know about my relationship?
My goal is to get into the heart of why you’re consulting Tarot. Depending on the query, I will choose from a plethora of pre-made spreads or I’ll create a custom spread that laser focuses on your question.
What People Are Saying
It is abundantly clear to me that Heather cares very much about Tarot as a craft, and sees it as a privilege to read for someone. I can tell she took great care selecting the deck and spread for this reading and wanted to make sure it was a positive experience for me.

During the Tarot Reading
A sacred space is a very important part of the Tarot reading process. Whether we’re meeting in person, over video or e-mail, I use a sacred space to tap into universal energies around me. I surround myself with candles, crystals, flowers, photos and art — anything that brings my joy. I will bring specific objects that symbolize topics of the reading — rose quartz for love, a book for education, rosemary for remembrance, etc. Burning sage or spraying my homemade moon water clearing spray also helps me feel connected. It’s in this space where I listen to music and meditate to truly ground myself before a reading.
Tarot is at its best when we collaborate.
I will ask questions to dive deeper into the reading — about what you’re feeling or what thoughts might pop into your mind. I will go through each card — explaining the symbolism, numerology and impressions as they relate to your query. Then, I’ll tell the entire story of the Tarot spread. I will even go into the type of Tarot deck I am using and why I chose that deck for your particular reading.
My goal is to provide a Tarot reading that empowers you to take positive action in your life. I may pull an oracle card or clarification cards to help bring deeper meaning to the session. Be prepared for some “homework,” which can range from journaling to meditating.
After the Reading
Within a day or two after the reading, I’ll follow up with an e-mail with a brief recap of the Tarot session with photos of the cards. I would love to hear your thoughts about the reading. What was the most powerful take-away? And what one action will you take as a result of the reading?
A month or even three months after your reading, you might be interested in a follow-up Tarot reading to recalibrate or to see what has changed in your life.
When it comes to esoteric spiritual tools, the messages might not always be immediately clear. I ask that you let the reading marinate a little. Sometimes, a Tarot reading takes time to make sense — perhaps events will fall into place or you might have an aha! moment where the reading will suddenly become clear.
