After a year filled with struggles and unexpected heartache, the Temperance card is your reminder to bring balance and purpose into your life. Be patient with the early months of 2021 and have hope that the change you need in your life is almost there.

The purple-hued hilly horizon with the sun rising or setting is a cue that there is always hope no matter what darkness lies before you. Like many people around the world, you’ve dealt with a fair amount of hardships. The Temperance card calls you to focus on healing — whether that’s through meditation, talking with a trusted therapist, taking long walks in nature or simply sleeping in. Because the Temperance is the 14th card in the Major Arcana, this is advice that you shouldn’t take lightly.

If you are a caregiver or an empath, this card is calling out to you to hit pause; reconnect with your inner self. The angel is balancing two cups — pouring water from one into the other. The same energy you give others should also be given to yourself. Don’t let self-care become a dirty word. It’s OK to take time for yourself.

If you are experiencing conflict with loved ones, the Temperance card asks you to consider other people’s points of view. Don’t allow fleeting feelings and emotions prevent you from always acting with love, kindness and compassion. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that life is too short to hold grudges.

Last year brought us many lessons — some difficult to bear — but now it’s time to figure out how to move forward with this new insight.

What does Temperance mean to you?
